เกาะม้าเป็นเกาะเล็กๆ ห่างจากชายฝั่งเกาะพะงันเพียง 150 เมตร และเชื่อมต่อกับเกาะหลักด้วยสันทรายที่ผู้คนสามารถใช้เดินข้ามได้ในช่วงน้ำลง จุดดำน้ำนี้อยู่รอบเกาะหินที่ยื่นออกไปในทะเล ล้อมรอบด้วยน้ำตื้นทางด้านชายหาดและน้ำลึกทางด้านทะเลที่ดึงดูดปลาขนาดใหญ่ เชื่อมต่อกับแนวปะการังอ่าวแม่หาดและอยู่ห่างจากแม่หาดเพียงระยะว่ายน้ำสั้นๆ
