HTMS Sattakut Wreck

Sank in 2011 as an artificial wreck for divers to enjoy, it is a good place to discover about wreck diving and see the evolution of marine life around the HTMS Sattakut.

The first big wreck close to Koh Phangan

This war cargo ship has been sank in 2011 off the coast of Koh Tao for diving purposes. As the HTMS Sattakut is still a young wreck, there are still not many corals, anemones, or fans attached to the structure but the marine life is slowly taking over and this, starting with fish.

A popular photo of the dive site is sitting on the seat of the cannon on the bow, the front of the boat

A tour can be done around the top of the boat without special certification and wreck penetration is only allowed for those with proper certifications, qualifications, and equipment.

Being an artificial reef sunken on purpose it is a very good place to train wreck diving with little potential hazard and good water conditions. To make it even safer is has been chained up to huge concrete blocks to help keep it in an upright position limiting tipping hazards from the weather.

Beware! Stay clear and do not enter the wreck if you are not certified or qualified for wreck diving.
